For the Love of Suebob

She’s been a part of my life since BlogHer 2006. I was relatively new to blogging, as many of us were. I wrote the blog “Troll Baby,” which had less to do with internet trolls and more to do with my non-sleeping, constantly-eating, never-stopped-crying, baby Thomas, who turns 7 (!) this week.
She shoved a cherry red stapler in my hand and stood shoulder to shoulder with me. I was fascinated with her ability to speak to anyone, as I was all kinds of nervous, and didn’t know everyone’s name or which blog they belonged to. I stammered over my words when I didn’t even know who Amy was. I was lilypad green then and hadn’t read all the mom blogs! Course, back then there were maybe 30 mommyblogs that were well known. Now there are thousands and it’s like going from kindergarten to a major university. You could circle the campus a million times and maybe never meet everyone.
But she. Oh how I have loved the sage advice and dry wit that has come naturally from her kind soul. She can turn your dispair into giggles with a twisted perspective you’d never dream of. When I found myself on the tail end of a nervous breakdown at BlogHer ’07, she was there with suggestions of bacon & eggs, and quiet conversation. She held my hand through darkness I hope to never see again. She’s touched my life in ways I can only liken to the way family loves you unconditionally. Without even knowing it, she has been a moral compass, a comfort, and made me laugh at flappy earlobes, when times were difficult. I have only known her 6 years, but I can’t imagine my life without her.
As she turns the corner on a half century of life, I only hope for her a lifetime of happiness and may she always be the recipient of kindness and sunshine.
Happy 50th Birthday Suebob. You are amazing and I am so very glad you are one of my dearest, treasured friends. I love you.
